I'm so pleased that Me To You have brought out clear stamps in addition to their wood mounted stamp range.
I'm even more pleased that a little sample pack has been included completely FREE with this month's issue of Creativity Magazine. Clear stamps take up so much less space - so I can get more stamps into my overloaded tote!
I umed and ahed for months before buying one of the Papermania wheelable totes. But oh so worth it! All my stash is now kept neatly together and easily accessible. There's no more forgetting my bone folder when I take my crafting away from home. And it's so easy to move all my gear upstairs or downstairs as crafty space comes into demand for other things - yes I do mean the dining table! Having my stash better organised has really helped me to make the most of it, like discovering embellishments and papers I'd forgotten I had! So go on, take the plunge and get your stash organised, you'll reap the benefits.
There's loads of new products being added to our sale section every week, with fantastic reductions of up to 80% off RRP. Among them are these gorgeous Christmas papers from We R Memory Keepers. With their bright colours they are a perfect match for the Tatty Teddy Christmas range of stamps. Believe it or not the card shown is made with just one sheet of 12x12 inch paper. The We R Memory Keepers papers are all double sided but you don't just get two designs for your money, oh no, you get five. A large design on the front of the sheet and four more complementary patterns on the back, each one 6x6 inch making them perfect for card making or scrapbooking elements.
Right, down to business, the card itself.
Oh one more thing, the card stock used to stamp onto. Just in case you haven’t discovered it yet, our Creative Smooth White Card is stamping heaven. Even though I've used quite a lot of water and ink on this design, the card hasn't bubbled at all. It's smooth surface means it has taken the image beautifully.
Start by die cutting a scalloped oval shape of a suitable size for the stamp. To get the best quality image from a clear stamp use a shaping matt or the back of an old mouse mat. Place the stamp onto an acrylic block and ink it well with a good quality grey ink like Mementos London Fog. Press the block and stamp firmly onto the card to transfer the image then carefully remove the block and stamp.
You can use any medium you like to colour the image but I'm a fan of brush pens. I've used pale pink for the scarf and a touch of grey to accent the bear. Blue for his little nose and for the snow I've added just a tiny hint of blue ink by rubbing the brush pen onto a non-absorbent surface like an old CD then used a wet paint brush to pick up a tiny bit of the colour and paint it onto the stamped image very sparingly. Remember, you can always add more ink but removing it is tricky. Use the stamp packaging as a guide to shading the hat and post box. The snowman has been finished with a little orange for his nose and his stick arms have been gone over in brown.
Ink the edges of the scalloped oval with Me To You Blue ink. To stop the card looking too stark white I've used a sponge dabber to add just a little blue ink around the image. To finish off the image add white glitter to the snow on top of the post-box and the pompom on Teddy's hat. Sparingly add pink glitter glue to the scarf and set it aside to dry.
For the card cut the We R Memory Keepers Ivy paper into four 6 inch squares so you have four squares each with a different pattern. Cut the Ivy paper to 14cm square and punch the corners with a corner rounder. Ink the edges by running them along the surface of a green ink pad. Cut the stripy paper to 10cm x 8cm, round the corners and ink the edges with a red ink pad.
Use the scalloped oval die to cut a large oval from the plaid paper. Ink the edges in red. Use the smaller die as a template to cut a slightly smaller oval from the red dotty paper. Use scraps of the red dotty paper to cut a greeting strip 2cm wide, round two of the corners and ink the edges in red. Cut another little scrap 3cm wide, round the corners and ink the edges.
Stamp the Merry Christmas greeting in black ink onto the dotty red greeting strip of paper. Stamp the little Me To You logo onto white card stock and cut it out. For the ribbon lay the stripy paper onto a flat surface and stick a length of 6mm double sided tape about 2cm in from the edge. Place a ribbon over the tape and press it firmly in place. Pull the paper away from the surface, tape and all, and wrap the ribbon and tape to the back of the paper so that the raw edges are hidden on the back.
Assemble the card with double sided tape starting with the stripy paper and ribbon, then the ovals in size order. Use 3D foam pads to stick the stamped image in place so that it stands out. Slip the greeting strip under the edge of the oval to the bottom right of the card. Slip the little dotty red scrap of paper under the oval on the top left and stick the Me To You logo on top. Finally add some snowflake peel offs to give your card some sparkle.
To make your own card blank take a sheet of A4 Stardream Azalea card stock and score it using the A5 mark on your score board. If you don't have a scoreboard just fold the card in half to make an A5 card blank. Trim the card blank down to 14.4cm square. Stick your card panel to the card blank using 12mm double sided tape.
